from the executive chair ... Lenae Rasmussen OUR VISION: STAND AND CONFESS This summer we will gather around the confession that Jesus came to justify the ungodly, and for his sake God forgives our sin. We will stand and confess our faith in Christ, and share our vision for the future of our churches and our fellowship as the Augsburg Lutheran Churches. Dr. Paul Braafladt will speak on "Justification By Faith Alone: Our Sure and Certain Hope" in his keynote address Monday morning. Mr. Lou Hesse will give us an eye-opener on the "sexuality study" in his presentation, "A Clear Eye From the Pigsty." On Tuesday, Mr. Harold Lewis will share our vision for the Lutherans in Mission Investment Fund (LMIF), and Dr. Jim Galezewski will give a presentation on the Claus Harms House (CHH), a new pan-Lutheran house of studies. Displays and afternoon workshops on a variety of resources for congregations will be offered in addition to the consensus building sessions on ministry standards, new worship resources, and two additions to "Our Declaration." With a solid foundation on God’s Word and the Lutheran Confessions, a place to educate and train pastors, and a funding vehicle to plant new churches and help churches in redevelopment, Augsburg is doing what it takes to be a viable church body today. We realize it isn’t enough to know what needs to be done, we’ve got to do it! As David Starr Jordan wrote, "Wisdom consists of knowing what to do; virtue in doing it." Schedule for STAND AND CONFESS Sunday - July 25, 2004
Monday - July 26, 2004
Tuesday - July 27, 2004
Wednesday - July 28, 2004
STAND & CONFESS will conclude on Wednesday evening with a contemporary worship service led by The Harbor and a video fireworks display. Please join us for worship, fun, and fellowship in Christ at "the gathering place for Lutherans" this summer.
