THE BURNING BUSH
Youth Retreat at the Heart Ranch in Western Texas
June 11-13, 2004

Lutheran Church of the Risen Lord (LCRL) will host a youth retreat at the Heart Ranch in the Davis Mountains on June 11-13, 2004.

The three-day retreat will begin with Moses’ call through the burning bush, and guide youth into a deeper understanding of their call in Baptism.

The Burning Bush will include Bible studies, hikes on the Heart Ranch, small group sessions, and worship to focus on Luther’s understanding of the Means of Grace, and the role of Word and Sacrament ministry in our lives. On Friday night, June 11, participants will travel to the McDonald Observatory to see the stars.

The Heart Ranch is located on 7,000 acres of “promised land” in western Texas. Check-in begins at 3:00 p.m. on June 10, 2004.

The Burning Bush will address questions that youth have today, e.g., “Why am I here?” “How do I know I have been called to be a Christian?” “What makes me special in God’s eyes?” “What does it mean to be justified, and how does that help me?

Youth face a tremendous challenge in today’s confusing social climate. They are the prime targets of several agenda driven groups that are actively recruiting people to “an alternative lifestyle” that opposes the biblical witness.

At The Burning Bush youth will hear “the old, old story” in a fresh, new way. Every participant will hear of Jesus’ love for them, God’s plan for their welfare, and how they are put right with God by his gracious gift of fath. They will also share in the warmth and love of Christian fellowship. All God’s children are welcome–come and see! Travel and a small fee for the McDonald Observatory will be the only cost.
