STAND AND CONFESS: Sure & Certain Hope

Another dynamic Augsburg gathering is being planned for July 25-28, 2004, at The Old Sanctuary located at 910 Fourth Street, Brookings, SD.

Dr. Mark Mattes, a professor of religion and philosophy at Grandview College, will speak on “Justification By Faith Alone: Our Sure and Certain Hope” on Monday and Tuesday morning, and lead a plenary workshop on Monday afternoon.

Mr. Lou Hesse, a member of the ELCA Sex-Study, will give his confession of faith on the matters before us in “A Clear Eye from the Pigsty” on Monday afternoon.

Dr. James Galezewski and Dr. Michael Hoy will give a presentation on the Claus Harms House, the new pan-Lutheran house of studies in Hyde Park, IL.

CH (MAJ) John Rasmussen, Dr. Dennis Bielfeldt, Dr. Larry Gedde, and Rev. Mark Beebe will preach at our worship services on Sunday through Wednesday.

Rev. Dick Smith will lead our daily Bible Study on Romans 8:18-39.

Rev. John Fahning, Rev. Jack Torgersen, and Rev. Perry Toso will preach on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

CH (MAJ) John Rasmussen will lead a workshop on “PREP” (the Prevention and Relationship Enhancing Program in “Building Strong and Ready Families”). Dr. James Galezewski and Rev. Cher Clay will lead a workshop on Conflict Management and Problem Solving. Rev. Mike Williams will lead a workshop on new confirmation resources. Rev. Ron Rasmussen will lead a worship on the new Bible Study on 1 Peter.

Rev. Perry Toso and Dr. Dennis Bielfeldt will lead the consensus discussion on Ministry Standards. Amy Wiliams and Darla Bielfeld will lead the consensus discussion on new worship resources. Darla is writing a new liturgical setting for the gathering, and musicians from our member churches will be on hand to perform each evening and lead a workshop on planning dynamic worship services. Each participant will receive a worship resource pamphlet.

The gathering will conclude on Wednesday evening with an All American Barbeque and Fireworks Display at Pioneer Lutheran in White, SD.

Please join us for worship, fun, and fellowship in Christ at “the gathering place for Lutherans” this summer.
